Edvance: the first Digital Education Hub for higher education dedicated to Advanced Digital Culture in Italy

University education is undergoing a profound transformation. Digital technologies, artificial intelligence and the growing demand for advanced skills are changing the way teaching, learning and career paths are being built. In this context Edvance the first Digital Education Hub for higher education dedicated to Advanced Digital Culture in Italy.

A national project stemming from the PNRR

The project takes shape as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP), Mission 4 Education and Research“, with an ambitious goal: to create a shared digital ecosystem capable of integrating and enhancing the educational offerings of Italy's leading academic institutions. Led by METID - Milan Polytechnic, Edvance involves 16 universities and AFAM institutions that have chosen to collaborate to build a solid and innovative network, pooling skills, resources, and visions.

The Platform

From this collaboration, the platform was born Edvance, which today offers more than 200 free online courses, enriched by open badges. The aim is to support students, teachers and workers in developing advanced digital skills, in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, data management and analysis, digital sustainability and transdisciplinarity. It is not just a matter of acquiring new technical knowledge, but of developing a digitally aware culture, capable of integrating technology, critical thinking and creativity.

The quality of content

The project has a strong focus on content quality and methodological innovation. The MOOCs produced within Edvance are designed according to high standards and are part of a model of blended learning which combines online training and in-presence activities. This approach makes learning more flexible and accessible, without sacrificing the relational and collaborative dimension that characterises the university experience.

Artificial Intelligence

A distinctive element is the integration of artificial intelligence into teaching processes, not only as an object of study but as a tool to improve interactivity and learning effectiveness. The conscious use of technology, together with the dialogue with the humanities and creative disciplines, contributes to building more engaging and personalised learning paths, with the aim of reducing drop-out rates and offering new opportunities for academic and professional growth.

The partners

Edvance's strength also lies in the network of partners supporting it: in addition to the Politecnico di Milano, the following participate Bocconi University, Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, Humanitas University, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, University of Trento, University of Turin, Polytechnic University of Turin, University of Brescia, University of Macerata, University of Pisa, University of Cagliari, University of Messina, Conservatory of Cagliari, Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, Academy of Fine Arts of Venice and Civic School of Music of Milan. In addition to these, there are important associate partners such as Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa, the Bruno Kessler Foundation, the Compagnia di S. Paolo School Foundation, the Emilia-Romagna Region, Randstad and AWS Amazon.

Edvance therefore represents much more than an online course platform: it is a systemic project that aims to redefine the standards of digital education in Italy, promoting an open, collaborative and future-oriented model. An ecosystem in which technology, didactic quality and cooperation between institutions become strategic levers to train the skills the country needs.

Discovering Edvance means entering a new dimension of university learning, where innovation and accessibility meet to build the future of education.
